HISTORY/CORPORATE PROFILE

The Cooperative Rural Bank of Bulacan (CRBB) was organized in May 1975 by 135 Samahang Nayon and primary cooperatives of Bulacan with the objective of carrying out and engaging in the business of extending credit to all types of cooperatives and their members.

In November 1977, its Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws were registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) which gave the bank a legal personality.  On February 10, 1978, CRBB was granted the license to operate as a rural bank by then Central Bank of thePhilippines(now Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas) and was simultaneously granted the Authority to Accept Savings and Time Deposits.  CRBB was inaugurated on February 14, 1978.

Between 1978 and 1995, CRBB operated on a very small scale with only its Head Office in Plaridel lending mainly to its members. Its clients base at that point were concentrated few, with very limited types of services.

It was between 1996 and 1998 when CRBB opened its seven branches, thereby gearing into much bigger and wider territories:

On March 19, 1999, the bank was granted by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas the Authority to Accept and Create Demand Deposits, thereby expanding the bank’s products and services.

The BSP likewise approved in July 2006 the bank’s application to establish a microfinance-oriented branch in the City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.  It was inaugurated on September 26, 2006.

On October 19 2007, the BSP approved the opening of five more branches in the following municipalities:  Angat, Bulacan, Meycauayan, Paombong and Calumpit:

In April 2009, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas approved the bank’s application to open a microfinance-oriented branch in Makati City.  It’s operation started on November 4, 2009.

In May 2010, the BSP approved the following additional branch offices:

In its efforts to further strengthen its capital base and thereby sustain its growth, the BSP approved the bank’s application to amend its Articles of Cooperation, increasing the authorized capital stock to Five Hundred Million Pesos (Php500,000,000.00).

The CRBB has an 11-man Board of Directors, chaired by Mr. Isidoro C. Santos.  The over-all banking operation is being handled by Mr. Nestor S. Custodio, who is appointed as the President/CEO.
